Draft — for review
This wording is drafted from our pre-publication compliance review and has not yet been settled by a solicitor. Have an Australian solicitor (construction + consumer law) confirm it before public launch.
General information, not advice
The MyRenoHQ Renovation Library and related content are provided for general information only, to help you plan and manage a renovation. They do not constitute professional, legal, financial, building, engineering or trade advice, and must not be relied upon as a substitute for advice from a suitably qualified, licensed professional engaged for your specific project. Your circumstances are unique; always obtain project-specific advice before acting.
Licensed work
Electrical, plumbing, gasfitting and (in some states) waterproofing are regulated trades. Performing this work without the required licence is unlawful in Australia, uninsurable, and — for gas — a criminal offence, regardless of skill. You must engage licensed trades and obtain all required permits, certificates of compliance and inspections.
Accuracy and currency
Regulatory thresholds, owner-builder rules, warranty periods, Australian Standards and costs vary by state and territory and change over time. While we aim to keep content accurate, we do not warrant it is current, complete or applicable to your circumstances. Verify all regulatory requirements with the relevant authority (for example your state building regulator, WorkSafe/SafeWork body, or council/certifier) before proceeding.
Figures and estimates
Costs, savings, timeframes and payback periods are indicative estimates based on typical projects at the time of writing. Actual results depend on your location, scope, product choices and trades, and may differ significantly. They are not a quote or a guarantee of savings.
Australian Standards & the NCC
Requirements are summarised in our own words and referred to by standard number; we do not reproduce text from Australian Standards, which is copyright to Standards Australia. Confirm the current edition of any standard with your trade or certifier. National Construction Code material is used with attribution to the Australian Building Codes Board.
Limitation of liability
The full limitation of liability, including how it operates alongside the non-excludable consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law, is set out in our Terms of Use. Please read them together with this disclaimer.
